A Glance at Dr. Mike's Journey
Bridging East and West, Old and New
From a young age Dr. Mike began receiving both Western education (M.A., Ph.D. in Psychology, Boston University; M.S.C.M. American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, San Francisco) and training in the classical Chinese medicine, cultivation and the Western mysteries. He studied with teachers many in their 80s, 90s, and 100s. In different ways, each mentor instilled in him the confidence to take on the widest possible range of challenges that life would hand him.
In different ways, both Western and Eastern educations prepared him to improve upon existing paradigms. He learned to constantly discern between wishful idealism and testing the boundaries of human potential.
Chinese-American Roots
Dr. Mike's yearning to find his Chinese-American roots guided him to find answers to his questions at the juncture of China and the West. He has made more than thirty trips to Asia.
Unwilling to default to defining China through the Western lens, as is habitually done, he explored if reconciliation could be made between the two starkly contrasting realities. He found the answer in objective empirical inquiry. Unwilling to choose one over the other, he committed to finding a way to integrate the two heritages harmoniously. His deep level of conviction attracted many extraordinary teachers and learning opportunities to him.
Dr. Mike believes that re-framing, upgrading, and unifying single-cultural outlooks are the keys to catalyzing a 21st Century renaissance of global thought. Experts anticipate that such a renaissance is inevitable as more hidden treasures from antiquity are brought to light.
Recovery of a Lost Science
Dr. Mike is distinguished for his recovery of forgotten self-mastery healing traditions from the 1800s Chinese Imperial Palace. His 2008 presentation on a recovered 1850s Imperial Palace zhengtongxitong 正統系統 "Complete Orthodox Life Practice System" was recognized as a Chinese Hidden Treasure by scholars in Beijing.
Dr. Mike's mission is to lay the foundation for future generations of cross-cultural research. As part of this mission, he plans to make these systems available both in English and in their original classical Chinese. With the help of western psychology and other modern disciplines, he has interpreted the systems and rendered them into modern applications.
New Scientific Model and Theories
Dr. Mike has generated numerous psychological, social, and cultural theories to better understand and work within the dawning 21st Century multi-cultural global consciousness.
The following is a small sampling:
- One of the 1800s classical traditions he recovered was called the Way of the Shengren (聖人之路). Inspired by this, Dr. Mike delved into research of the legendary Chinese Shengren (聖人/圣人). He continues to search far and wide for ancient and modern systems that present such a clear cut account on fundamental differences between women and men.
- The 70/30 Principle is Dr. Mike's deep research with old masters on the Yin Yang concept has made it a more applicable tool to assist in modern everyday challenges. Rather than 50/50 constituting balance with regards to physical matter, the ratio switches to 70/30 when applied to human life and relationships.
- Dr. Mike uncovered a relationship-centered Human Unified Field (HUF) Theory lying at the foundation of the forgotten Chinese science. He recognized the parallel between what the ancient Chinese discovered and the search in the West by modern physics for the Unified Field Theory (UFT) that explains all. From this Dr. Mike proposes that the 19th-century revolution in Western science and thought was in fact a global phenomenon.
- New fields of New China West Science and Higher Learning Psychology offer the first-ever approaches to bring Chinese and Western science together on one platform. It provides evidence that Chinese and Western culture and science are complementary. They need to come together for each to be complete. Dr. Mike's system has been rigorously refined across thousands of cases in clinical and consulting settings. His method has proven particularly effective in helping people gain a sense of command of life amid stressful lifestyle and relationships.
- Working with the Law of Yin Yang Complementarity, Dr. Mike feels the West and China must come together to complete their respective inquiries. In support of the current movement to merge wisdom and technology, Dr. Mike proposes a complementary-based framework whereby:
- Ancient Chinese culture and science are more feminine inner-oriented and relationship-centered
- Modern Western culture and science are more masculine outer-oriented and material-/technology-centered
- Ancient Chinese culture and science are based on non-linear Chinese logic
- Modern Western culture and science are based on linear hypothetical deductive reason
- Therefore, ancient Chinese logic is to be experienced, and modern Western logic is to be understood
