Germany Retreat 2026

July 13–16 | Limited Openings Available

This year’s retreat offers a rare training experience: separate men’s and women’s groups working through distinct yet complementary curricula, then coming together to exchange insights and integrate what they’ve learned.

Unlike conventional combat sports training, martial arts seminars, or technique-focused systems, this retreat explores a body of classical knowledge designed to simultaneously improve performance through structural organization and recovery.

Participants begin training before arrival through weekly Zoom sessions, helping shape the curriculum around their personal goals and creating a more individualized learning experience.

The Path

Complete Warrior.

Complete Healer.

Complete Human Being.

An Introduction to:

TongBi™ Postural Restoration

Advanced Hand Fighting (AHF) System

Heavy Medicine Hands

Point of Contact Mastery

Most combat sports, contact sports, and performance disciplines focus on developing techniques, strength, conditioning, or tactics.

TongBi™ and AHF begin somewhere deeper: the organization of the body itself.

These systems train the underlying structures that determine how power is generated, transmitted, received, and recovered from. Rather than adding more techniques, this training improves the quality of the body performing them.

Whether you’re a martial artist, combat athlete, coach, therapist, performer or movement practitioner, the goal is the same:

Become harder to disrupt, easier to recover, and more effective under pressure.

What Makes TongBi™ Different?

TongBi™ Postural Restoration is not simply posture correction.

It is a complete method of reorganizing the body according to modern Western and classical Chinese principles of structure, movement, and human development.

As the body becomes more organized, movement becomes more efficient, breathing improves, tension patterns diminish, and force transfers more naturally through the entire system.

Most importantly, TongBi™ serves as both performance training and medicine.

The same principles that improve athletic output also help restore the body after physical exertion, making recovery an integrated part of practice rather than a separate activity.

Ancient Chinese Saying:

The deeper one's medicine

The better one's connection

The more effective one's relating

The more superior one's relating/fighting

Healthy Aging and Longevity Benefits

As a healthy aging and longevity practice this inquiry gives you well rounded full spectrum experience of your total body, emotions, mind and spirit body. The deeper the restoration, the less friction between your various parts.

What Makes AHF Different?

Advanced Hand Fighting (AHF) is built on a simple principle:

Every interaction begins at the point of contact.

Most systems teach what to do after contact is established.

AHF develops mastery of the first moment itself.

"Known as Heavy Medicine Hands, Point of Contact Mastery this training cultivates an unusually refined quality of touch, pressure, timing, and perception that allows practitioners to recognize and influence force before techniques fully develop."

This is not brute force.

It is intelligence expressed through contact.

The result is a level of sensitivity, control, and effectiveness rarely found in conventional combat sports training.

The Two Posture / Two Power Method

At the heart of AHF is a unique framework that trains two distinct power-generation systems within the body.

"With the abundant  dversified repertoires possessed by our practitioners this training is  not interested in tactics and technique. But only in ways to break techniques using a hidden core strength borne from two posture mastery."

Heavy Skill

    •    Horizontal strength

    •    Rooting and force transmission

    •    Structural pressure and stability

Light Skill

    •    Vertical strength

    •    Adaptive intelligence

    •    Mobility, timing, and responsiveness

These qualities are developed independently and then integrated into a unified method of movement.

The result is improved power, greater efficiency, better decision-making under pressure, and a clearer understanding of your natural strengths.

In Summary Through This Training You Will:

    •    Improve power generation without relying on additional muscular effort

    •    Develop superior touch, timing, and contact sensitivity

    •    Discover your personal light-to-heavy skill balance

    •    Increase efficiency in combat sports, martial arts, and other performance disciplines

    •    Learn practical drills that continue producing results long after the retreat

    •    Experience a system that simultaneously develops performance and recovery

    •    Receive individualized guidance and curriculum development

Training Begins Before You Arrive

All participants join weekly preparation sessions prior to the retreat, creating a foundation for deeper learning and allowing the curriculum to be shaped by the needs of those attending.

This collaborative process ensures that every retreat becomes a unique learning experience that cannot be duplicated.

Testimonials

Priceless and Rare

by Steve, UK

After decades of searching and spending money, time, and effort in Tai Chi, I have come to the understanding that there are two types of Tai Chi instructors. One is passionate about their Tai Chi business. The other is passionate about their Tai Chi students’ progress. My search is over because here I am a person, not an account number. Dr. Mike cares about making me better than himself. That is priceless, and so rare.

A Lot of New Correlations & Insights

by Gunnar, Germany

It is helpful and interesting that Mike puts everything into a well-thought and logical context and does not just focus on the pure technical level. That broadens the horizon and deepens the understanding.

Brings in the Power of the Original Tai Chi Masters

by Steve, Canada

Power pushing is the missing link to what I’ve suspected was absent from almost all the Tai Chi I’ve learned to date. It simply brings in the power that the original Tai Chi masters were known for. Although much more learning and training are forthcoming, I can already feel the results and realize the potential.

“Closed Door” Transmission

by Gunther, Colorado

Dr. Mike’s Yuen's REAL TAI CHI training is a powerful algorithm for what I believe is the next phase in the evolution of the Traditional Yang Family systems as well as related lineages. Mike is taking the “Closed Door” transmission he personally received from Yang Sau Chung (Yang Cheng Fu’s eldest son) to a new level that includes both the martial & health benefits but goes well beyond them to a new synthesis of Eastern wisdom & Western technology manifesting as the state of Embodied Presence.

Unique Approach With Great Results

by Mike, Ohio

Dr. Mike is offering a unique approach for those not only interested in Tai Chi but mind/body health and human potential. Traditionally, Yang family power pushing is taught to experienced students after learning the solo form. Dr. Mike is introducing it in the early stage of his curriculum with great results. All designed to accelerate understanding and progress. Refreshing is the confidence Dr. Mike has in his students. Dr. Yuen says keep what you have, no need to empty anything. Just be open to integrating Yang Sau Chung’s practices along with modern advances to deepen and expand all that you've learned.

Transforms Your Practice Into Something Much Richer

Matt, Texas

If you feel like your Tai Chi is not as full and powerful as it could be, Dr. Mike's insights and training can help you transform your practice into something much richer. It's not just the "JI Pressing Power Pushing" but a whole set of practices that turn modern Tai Chi on its head. The training helps untie ingrained habits and helps put them in a new light, opening up whole new frontiers of development in your practice.

Understanding Teacher Strongly Motivates His Students

Gerhard, Switzerland

Private Zoom lessons with Doctor Mike Yuen are very valuable in many ways. Due to his decades of experience in accompanying/instructing renowned masters, he has a deep knowledge in the field of martial arts. This in combination with his decades of experience as a psychologist, as well as the deep study of traditional Chinese medicine, is a great complement to the deeper understanding of Yang Style Tai Chi. His teaching is well structured and tailored to the needs/expectations and previous knowledge of the student. Doctor Mike Yuen is an understanding teacher who strongly motivates the student. The arrangement of the lessons is uncomplicated and the appointments are always reliably kept. The teaching content of the Square Method opens another layer to experience the depth of Yang Tai Chi. In-person training of Power Pushing Hands is a potent tool that gives the student a sense of whole-body consolidation with the associated stability and strength.
