Welcome to the Future of Tai Chi!

Introducing "Tai Chi's 8 Agreements and 8 Not-Doings ":

  • Where our proprietary 8 AGREEMENTS reinstate the secretive Yang family Power Pushing method to a central place in your understanding of Yang Tai Chi as a system.

  • As 8 NOT-DOINGS of eight overused Tai Chi habits and beliefs, the 8 AGREEMENTS pull you out of body-based experience (Qi feeling, connecting, Yi intent), returning your practice to its original place in the higher mind.

  • The 8 AGREEMENTS are "advanced habits" that expand your JI Power Pushing repertoire in eight ways. Connected to the Chinese medicine organs, you can replicate your own personalized version of the renowned Yang family mind frame and skills.

  • Our "Family style" training format ensures even growth of internal power and emotional intelligence. You avoid having to pass through the gauntlet of anger, violence, and unprincipled competition.

  • The only Tai Chi instruction that from day one treats you as a fellow teacher (even if you are not one). Does away with the questionable “let me show you and you can do it too!” approach. You take front and center receiving continuous refinements to your understanding, execution and form. All on the way to earning your professional instructor certification.

Tai Chi's 8 Agreements (Not-Doings or Pattern Interruptions)

Our shared 8 entrenched habits on the right are superceded by "8 Habits of Highly Successful Tai Chi Practitioners" on the left. Done to strategically disrupt established patterns, free up dormant creative resources, while introducing advanced repertoires.

  • JI (擠 PRESSING) POWER PUSHING together with SOLO-FORM (Day 1)

  • FEMININE LEARNING together with MASCULINE LEARNING (Day 1)

  • MEDICINE ahead of WILL (Day 2)

  • IMAGINATION ahead of BIOLOGY (Day 2)

  • PRINCIPLE ahead of STRENGTH (Day 3)

  • SHORT POWER ahead of LONG POWER (Day 3)

  • FOOTWORK ahead of HANDWORK (Day 4)

  • POSTURE ahead of TECHNIQUE (Day 4)

Train For Success!

In addition to FanTanLi rebound strength, you will hone your “life & death" Ting Jing (listening force) skills through repetitive sets of fun simulated combat scenarios.

The best Tai Chi practices today teach Qi sensitivity, unbalancing, and various kinds of uprooting. We complete these essential mid-range skills with end-range Yang Sau Chung lineage instruction. You will learn to identify advantageous from disadvantageous positioning, how to control and freeze your opponent's center, to change with them, and remain in constant readiness to pierce. Traditionally used for self-defense, our priority today is on communication, healing, and Self-mastery. This one-month training is an introduction to the full one-year instructor certification program. Nevertheless, the richness of the material will provide bundles of fascinating new repertoires and strategies to explore and perfect for months and years to come.
You will be contacted to schedule your 1:1 Welcome Meeting with Dr. Mike. Each class recording will be 2+ hours and accessible for review. Meeting times for live "Group Clinics" will be personally scheduled.

Lead Instructor Mike Yuen PhD

Indeed it is true as China-West experts state, that one of the biggest roadblocks to world progress and peace this century is that the West does not understand China. Since young I have felt it both my privilege and obligation to help bridge the knowledge and cultural gap between east, west, old and new. My formal education together with the teachings I’ve received from last great generation masters in martial arts and other disciplines—when ordinarily I’d be too young—has equipped me to pursue this mission to help China and the West build a better world together. My diverse life experiences make sense from this perspective. Earning a doctorate degree in psychology and a masters degree in traditional Chinese medicine. Running a 25-year professional practice with thousands of clinical and consulting cases. Experiencing frustration in constantly seeing that patients and clients lacked the means to make progress on their own between visits with doctors and advisors. Marrying late in life to a German woman who shares the same global vision. Innovating new fields of New China West Science and Higher Learning Psychology that provide new paradigms at this turning point in history. I am tireless in my desire to spread hope and confidence to the people I meet.

Testimonials From Previous AYTCC Workshops

A Lot of New Correlations & Insights

by Gunnar, Germany, 25+ years

It is helpful and interesting that Mike put everything into a well-thought and logical context and did not just focus on the pure technical level. That broadens the horizon and deepens the understanding. While seeing the videos, I made some notes so that I can remember the most important parts easier later. I had a good impression of some active participants.

Game Changing

by Joey, Australia, 20+ Years

Thank you for this discussion Mike! While to my eye, I don't train the particular flavor you demonstrate, I think the authentic Taijiquan engagement approach (and the resultant small circle short Jin and Hua/Na/Fa at touch to pierce etc.) will be nothing short of a game changer in the Taiji world. I wish you all the very best and thank you for your efforts!

Resonates With My Current Martial Arts Practices

by Matt, Texas, 3 Years

I really appreciated the workshop. The information resonated with many things I am currently pursuing and being taught, but it was framed in a whole new light that I believe will greatly enrich my pursuit. It's something I will look back on and say "Ah! That's what Mike meant when he said ..." So many little things Mike brought up were actually very big (e.g. not knowing as a substrate for not doing, embodied enlightenment, principle not strength, feminine energy, etc.). I am looking forward to more discussion and learning about the topics.

Welcomed Reminder That We Are Already Masters

by Patricia, California, 20+ Years

What was most impactful for me was the reminder that we each, as human beings, are already masters and simply need the right tools to open to this realization. The advanced methods and information that Mike provided are what is needed for this. I was also reminded that any training we engage in, Tai Chi or otherwise, needs to be in service to opening up to our individual mastery and consciousness. Thank you again. I look forward to more of the same guidance.

Wonderful Series of Topics

by Bryan, Vermont, 30 + Years

Mike, thank you again for putting on the Boot Camp training! I thoroughly enjoyed your selection and execution of these 4 topics critical to Yang Tai Chi - providing philosophical and practical underpinnings enjoyable as well as relevant and unique to my previous trainings.

Furthering my training with multiple perspectives/influences

Steve Tchang, Ontario Canada, 45 years

Thank you Mike, I have had extensive training in various martial arts and Taiji, currently studying online with Sifu Liang. Much of what you have spoken about in your YouTube videos seem to reflect Sifu Liangs teaching. I'm looking forward to further my training with multiple perspectives/influences. Thanks for your endeavors to bring in the original deep values of Yang Taiji. I previously always thought I needed to travel afar to learn from masters as yourself on this knowledge and training, it is very exciting that current technology and circumstances have allowed a worldwide community to share and learn in an "almost" direct experience.

Don't be a bystander. Join a creative global network dedicated to evolving Tai Chi to its next level!
